Think of some goals you would like to work on with your child. The Goal Setting Guide can be used to help you identify social communication goals that are relevant for your child, and then to write them as SMART goals (Specific, Measurable, Adaptive, Realistic, and Time-framed). Once you have decided what goals you would like your child to learn, you can break each goal down using the ABC Template for Supporting Skill Development to work out how to teach your child each skill. The ABC template will assist you to plan the antecedents and consequences you can provide to support and strengthen the new skill, including any prompts and/or visual supports that may facilitate your child’s learning.
